Affiliated clients
Create and manage child brands under your account, whose platform charges bill to you and whose provider network is inherited from yours.
If your account is allowed to have child brands, this page is where you create them, open them, and change which provider network each one runs on — and every platform charge they generate bills to you.
Questions people ask about this page
I do not have this page. Why?
It is switched on per account. When it is off, Affiliated clients is removed from the left menu and the route is unregistered, so typing /affiliated-clients gives you the generic Page not found card ("The page you're looking for doesn't exist or you don't have access."). Ask GEN Health support to enable it. See Support and tickets.
What is an affiliated client, in one sentence?
A separate brand with its own patients, products, users, and portal, created under yours, whose GEN Health platform charges bill to your account instead of its own.
How many can I create?
It depends on your plan. When a limit is set the card header reads "{n} of {limit} affiliated clients used. Platform charges bill to this parent." and the Add affiliated client button greys out at the limit. With no limit set, the header reads "Create and manage affiliated clients. Platform charges for children bill to this parent." Your plan's ceiling also appears on Settings → Account and billing as the Affiliated-client limit tile.
Which provider network does a new child get?
Yours. The create dialog says so: "Create an affiliated client. It inherits this parent's primary provider network." A grey note inside the form repeats it — "Provider network is inherited from the parent client" — and adds "(parent has no primary network yet)" if you have not linked one.
Can I move a child to a different network later?
Yes, but only to a network the parent is already paired with. The Network row button opens Reassign provider network: "Choose from the provider networks already paired to the parent client."
Does a child share my products and patients?
No. Each affiliated client is its own tenant with its own catalog, patients, forms, users, and branding. What it shares is the billing relationship and the inherited provider network. Set it up like any other client.
Why does the Status column show a lowercase word?
Because this table prints the stored value. You will see active rather than Active. Same meaning.
Can Client Staff use this page?
No. It is Client Admin only, and it does not appear in the Client Staff menu at all.
Where to find it
Left menu → Affiliated clients, second item from the top. Direct link: /affiliated-clients. Visible to: Client Admin, and only when the feature is enabled for your account.
What is on this page
| What you see | What it does |
|---|---|
| Card Affiliated clients | The whole page. Its description is either "Create and manage affiliated clients. Platform charges for children bill to this parent." or, when a limit exists, "{n} of {limit} affiliated clients used. Platform charges bill to this parent." |
| Button Add affiliated client | Opens the create dialog. Disabled at the limit, and in read-only contexts. |
| Column Affiliated client | The child's name, as a link. Clicking it opens that client's record. An unnamed row reads Untitled client. |
| Column Model | The child's client model, printed as the stored value: gfe_only, gfe_prescribe, or affiliate. A dash if unset. |
| Column Status | A badge showing the stored value, normally active or inactive. |
| Row button Manage | Opens the child's record — the same view as clicking the name. |
| Row button Network | Opens Reassign provider network. |
| Empty state | "No affiliated clients yet. Create one to manage products, users, and visits under this parent." |
| Denied state | If the route is reachable but the feature is off for you, the heading is Affiliated clients with "Affiliated clients are not enabled for this account." Most often you get the generic Page not found card instead, because the route is not registered at all. |
How to create an affiliated client
Open the page
In the left menu, click Affiliated clients.
Start the record
Click Add affiliated client in the card header. The Create Affiliated Client dialog opens with the description "Create an affiliated client. It inherits this parent's primary provider network."
Set Status and Model
At the top, Status is a two-way toggle: Active or Inactive. Model is a three-way toggle: Review Only, Review + Prescribe, or Affiliate. Both are required.
Name it
Fill Client Name — required — and optionally Website (placeholder https://example.com).
Add brand assets if you have them
Upload an icon and a logo, and set Primary Color (placeholder #2563eb), Secondary Color and Background Color (both default to Auto-generated). All of this can be changed later on the child's own Branding tab.
Check the network note
A grey strip reads "Provider network is inherited from the parent client." If it instead says "(parent has no primary network yet)", stop and link a network first. See Link your provider network.
Create it
Click Create Client in the dialog footer. A toast reads Affiliated client created successfully and the row appears in the table.
The button in the footer says Create Client even though the dialog is titled Create Affiliated Client. It is the right button.
How to move a child to a different network
Find the row
On /affiliated-clients, locate the child.
Click Network
The Network button opens the Reassign provider network dialog: "Choose from the provider networks already paired to the parent client."
Pick the network
Open the dropdown, whose placeholder reads Select network. Only networks that are active and already paired to the parent appear.
Save
A toast reads Provider network updated for affiliated client. If you did not choose one, it reads Select a provider network instead.
Reassigning changes who reviews that brand's patients. Protocols, product access, and pricing come from the network, so work already in flight can behave differently afterwards. Coordinate with both networks before you switch a live brand.
How to set a child up after you create it
Open it
Click the child's name, or the Manage button on its row.
Work the normal setup path
A child needs the same things any client needs: a patient payment processor, branding, forms, products, labs, visit options, and team members. Follow Getting Started, beginning with Your plan and account payment method; Link your provider network is already inherited.
Remember who pays what
Patients pay the child's own processor. GEN Health platform charges for the child bill to your account.
Every setting on this page
The page itself has no persistent settings — everything is either a row action or a field inside the create dialog.
| Setting | What it controls | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Add affiliated client | Opens the create dialog. Disabled at the limit, with the toast "This account has reached its affiliated-client limit of {n}". | — |
| Status (create dialog, required) | Active or Inactive for the new client. | Active |
| Model (create dialog, required) | Review Only, Review + Prescribe, or Affiliate. This decides which pages the child's own admins get. | Set explicitly — there is no safe default |
| Client Name (required) | The brand name. | Empty |
| Website | The brand's public site. | Empty |
| Icon upload | Square brand mark. Change control reads Change Icon; empty state "Click or drag to upload icon". | None |
| Logo upload | Horizontal logo, with a size cycle control reading Size: {value} and a white-background option. | None |
| Primary Color | The child's accent colour. Placeholder #2563eb. | Platform default |
| Secondary Color / Background Color | Derived from the primary unless you set them. Both show Auto-generated. | Auto-generated |
| Provider network | Not editable at creation. Inherited from the parent's primary network. | Parent's primary network |
| Network row button | Reassigns the child to another network already paired to the parent. | — |
| Manage row button | Opens the child's record. | — |
What you cannot do here: delete an affiliated client, change its model after creation from this page, see its revenue, or bulk-import several at once. There is also no per-child permission model — anything a Client Admin can do inside a child's record, they can do.
Statuses you will see here
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
active | The child tenant is live. Shown lowercase, because the table prints the stored value. | Nothing. |
inactive | The child is switched off. | Open the child's record to change it. |
Model gfe_only | Review Only — the child has no Billing, Products, Orders, Labs, Messages, Prescriptions, or Formulary pages. | Nothing, if intentional. |
Model gfe_prescribe | Review + Prescribe — the full storefront. | Nothing. |
Model affiliate | Affiliate — patient payments route through the provider network's processor rather than the child's own. | Nothing. |
| Parent-side pill Billed via parent | Seen on a child's own Billing page. It means platform charges land on you, not them. | Nothing. |
Definitions for every other status a child brand can show are in Words and statuses.
What can go wrong
| What you see | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Page not found at /affiliated-clients | The feature is off, so the route is never registered. | Ask GEN Health support to enable affiliated clients on your account. |
| Add affiliated client is greyed out | You are at your plan's limit, or the page is in a read-only context. | Check the Affiliated-client limit tile on Settings → Account and billing. |
| Toast: "This account has reached its affiliated-client limit of {n}" | Same cause, hit at click time. | Ask support to raise the limit. |
| "(parent has no primary network yet)" in the create dialog | Your own account has no primary provider network, so there is nothing to inherit. | Link a network first on /integrations, then create the child. |
| The reassign dropdown is empty | Only networks that are active and already paired to the parent are listed. | Pair the network to the parent first. |
| Toast: Select a provider network | You clicked save without choosing. | Pick one from Select network. |
| A child's patients cannot buy anything | The child is its own tenant: it needs its own payment processor, products, and prices. | Open the child and continue with Your plan and account payment method. |
| You want to delete a child | There is no delete on this page. | Set the child inactive from its own record, or ask support. |
