Integrations and pharmacy
Every connection your brand can switch on — pharmacies, labs, and tools — and why nothing ships until the pharmacy one is done.
/integrations is the single page where a Client Admin switches on the outside services your brand uses — the pharmacy that fills prescriptions, the labs that run bloodwork, and the tools that receive your clinical notes.
No pharmacy, no prescriptions. Until the pharmacy connection on this page is finished, nothing can be dispensed or shipped — and the Formulary page, the Paired formulary column, and the product editor's Prescribing tab do not exist. An order for a prescription product will stop with no error message on screen.
Questions people ask about this page
Where do I get the OnlyScripts API Key?
Not from anywhere in GEN Health — nothing in the app issues it or tells you where it comes from. It is given to you by OnlyScripts, usually through whoever set your pharmacy account up. If you do not have one, raise a ticket from Support and address it to OnlyScripts (not GEN Health), or ask your provider network contact.
Where is the Provider Networks section?
There is not one. This page has exactly three sections — Pharmacies, Labs, and Tools. To confirm your provider network is linked, open Products and look at the Owner column: your network's name on those rows means the link is live. It also appears as a recipient tile when you click Create Support Ticket on Support — that page opens on the empty Incoming Requests tab, which is normal; the button is on both tabs.
Why do all six lab vendors say "Junction lab ordering integration"?
Junction is the aggregator that GEN Health routes lab orders through, and BioReference, CRL, Labcorp, Quest, USSL, and Junction's own panels all ride on it. You are choosing which lab brand fulfils the work, not which technology carries it.
Is the pharmacy card the same as my GEN Health payment method?
No, and mixing them up is the most common cause of stalled orders. The pharmacy payment method is the card OnlyScripts charges for each medication it ships — managed from this page once your account is connected. Your GEN Health account payment method covers platform and lab processing fees, and lives on Settings → Account and billing. Your patient payment processor is a third thing again, on Billing.
Can Client Staff change anything here?
No. Staff can open the page and read which integrations are on, which helps them answer patient questions, but every control is Client Admin work. Staff also do not see the OnlyScripts account block at all.
Why does ScriptSure have no switch when everything else does?
ScriptSure is an e-prescribing widget your providers launch, not a toggle you flip. Its row reads "ScriptSure e-prescribing widget integration for provider prescription launch." Setting it up is done through a dedicated flow, and the practice has to be connected before providers can be invited.
Where to find it
Left menu → Integrations. Direct link: /integrations. Visible to: Client Admin (can change things) and Client Staff (read-only). Heading Integrations, subtitle "Manage the integrations available to this account." There are no tabs — three stacked sections, in this order.
The three groups
| Section | What it is for | What it unlocks | What breaks without it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pharmacies | The pharmacy network that fills and ships medications. Empty state: "No pharmacies enabled for this account." | The Formulary page, the Paired formulary column on Products, the product editor's Prescribing tab, and the whole prescription path. | Nothing can be dispensed. Prescription orders stop silently. |
| Labs | Lab vendors: BioReference, CRL, Junction, Labcorp, Quest, USSL — every one described as "Junction lab ordering integration". Empty state: "No active lab integrations are available yet." | Lab panels you can sell on Labs, and results flowing back automatically. | Create Lab says "No activated labs are available.", and any product with Requires labs has nothing to satisfy it. |
| Tools | Practice systems that receive your clinical output: Aesthetic Record, Boulevard, DrChrono, IntakeQ, Jane, Nextech, Optimantra, PatientNow Essentials, PatientNow Pro, Portrait, Vagaro, Yocale, Zenoti — each described as "Post signed clinical decisions and notes to {name}." Plus ScriptSure. Empty state: "No tools are available yet." | Signed clinical notes and decisions land in the system your clinic already runs on, instead of only in GEN Health. | Nothing breaks. Your team reads notes in GEN Health and copies them across by hand. |
Which vendors you see is set per account. If a vendor you were promised is missing, it has not been made available to your brand yet — ask GEN Health support or your provider network, because you cannot add one yourself.
How to connect the pharmacy
Open the page
In the left menu, click Integrations. Pharmacies is the first section.
Read the block
Before setup it shows the heading Finish OnlyScripts setup with the line "Pharmacy options stay hidden until the available setup items are complete." Underneath, the section is empty: "No pharmacies enabled for this account."
Open the credentials dialog
Click Connect OnlyScripts account. The dialog is OnlyScripts credentials — "Review and edit the values required by this integration." The chip labelled OnlyScripts account opens the same dialog.
Paste the key
There is exactly one field: OnlyScripts API Key, placeholder "Enter OnlyScripts API key". It is masked as you type. The note under it matters when you come back later: "Enter new credential values for this scope. Blank fields preserve saved values." — leaving it blank keeps whatever is already stored.
Save
Click Save credentials. The OnlyScripts account chip gains a tick once the key is accepted.
Add the pharmacy card
Once the account is connected, a Update OnlyScripts payment method button appears on the Pharmacies section. Click it and add the card OnlyScripts should charge for each medication it ships — the dialog explains itself: "Manage the card OnlyScripts charges for pharmacy fees on this client's behalf, per pharmacy." If your brand is a child of a parent client, you will see "Billing is managed by your parent client" instead, and there is nothing for you to do.
Fill in any per-pharmacy values
Individual pharmacies may need their own values. Their dialog is {Pharmacy name} credentials — "Enter the pharmacy-specific values required by OnlyScripts." — and a progress line reads "{n} of {m} configured in OnlyScripts."
Check the pharmacy rows appeared
The Pharmacies section should now list real pharmacies with the status Active. Each carries a coverage note: All 50 states, or {n}/50 states with a tooltip beginning "Does not ship to:".
Confirm the Formulary page appeared
Reload the app and look for Formulary in the left menu, between Messages and Visits. The answer is cached in your browser for up to 24 hours, so if it is still missing, sign out and back in.
Pair every prescription product
Go to Formulary and medication pairings and pair each product to a medication. An unpaired prescription product still cannot reach a pharmacy.
Skipping the pharmacy card is the classic mistake. The account connects, the formulary appears, everything looks finished — and then each order stops because there is no card for the pharmacy to charge. Your Dashboard raises a Payment needed alert naming the order and pharmacy when that happens.
How to switch a lab vendor on
Find the vendor
Scroll to the Labs section. Each row shows the vendor name and the same description, "Junction lab ordering integration."
Enable it
Use the switch on the row — its label is Enable {vendor}. The status changes to Active.
Add your account card if you have not
Lab processing fees are charged to your GEN Health account card. Until it is on file, Labs shows the banner "Please update your account payment method to enable labs." and blocks the sale.
Build the panels
Go to Labs and lab requirements. Create Lab can only offer the vendors you switched on here.
Statuses you will see here
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Active | Connected and in use. | Nothing. |
| Incomplete | The integration exists but its credential fields are not filled in. It is drawn in plain grey, not amber, so it is easy to miss. | Open the credentials dialog and finish it. |
| Disabled | Deliberately switched off for your brand. The action reads Enable integration. | Switch it back on if you need it. |
| Archived | Retired. It no longer appears in your rows. | Nothing. |
| All 50 states | Pharmacy coverage: this pharmacy ships everywhere. | Nothing. |
| {n}/50 states | Pharmacy coverage is partial. The tooltip lists the states it will not ship to. | Enable another pharmacy, or accept that patients elsewhere get routed to a different one. |
| Not enabled in OnlyScripts | A warning on a pharmacy row: GEN Health knows about it, OnlyScripts has not switched it on. | Ask OnlyScripts to enable that pharmacy for your account. |
| Practice connected | ScriptSure: your practice is linked. The button becomes Manage setup. | Invite your providers. |
| Setup needed | ScriptSure is not connected. Confusingly it renders grey when nothing has been started and yellow when an invite is out but the practice is still not connected. | Start with the setup invite to yourself. |
| Invite sent | ScriptSure: the setup invite has gone out and nobody has completed it. | Open the ScriptSure email at the address shown. |
Two lab vendors, Access Labs and Tasso, show no status at all when they are present — they have none. Do not read a blank status on those rows as a fault.
What can go wrong
| What you see | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "No pharmacies enabled for this account." and only one button. | Setup has not started. There is one control — Connect OnlyScripts account — not two, and there is no separate "save payment method" button until the account is connected. | Click Connect OnlyScripts account and paste the API key. |
| You have no OnlyScripts API Key and cannot find where to get one. | The app never issues it and never says where it comes from. | Ask OnlyScripts, or your provider network contact. Raise the ticket from Support addressed to OnlyScripts. |
| You saved the key but the pharmacy rows are still empty. | "Pharmacy options stay hidden until the available setup items are complete." Something else in the OnlyScripts setup is outstanding — often the pharmacy payment method. | Finish every item in the Finish OnlyScripts setup block, then reload. |
| Everything looks connected but Formulary is still missing from the menu. | The answer is cached in your browser for 24 hours. | Reload; if that fails, sign out and back in, or use a private window. |
| Orders reach the provider, get approved, and then nothing ships. | Either no pharmacy card is saved, or the product has no medication pairing. | Check the Dashboard for a Payment needed alert, then check the product's Paired formulary cell. |
| You are looking for the Provider Networks section that other documents mention. | It does not exist on this page. | Confirm the link on Products instead — your network's name in the Owner column. |
| A vendor you were promised is not listed anywhere. | Availability is set per account by GEN Health. | Raise a ticket from Support addressed to GEN Health. |
| You re-opened the credentials dialog and the field is blank. | It is masked by design: "Blank fields preserve saved values." | Leave it blank unless you are genuinely replacing the key. |
